As punk as they are poppy, they sit right on the edge of what’s easy on the ear and what’s good for the soul. The Nijmegen band Competition first came together within the walls of De Basis and made its debut in the summer of 2025 at the Valkhof Festival. Since that first show, things have moved quickly: from renowned festivals like Misty Fields, Code Oranje and Booster to venues like Doornroosje, Rotown and Muziekgieterij. In the autumn of 2026, Competition is touring the country as part of Popronde, a nationwide traveling showcase festival. It’s their way of proving that things can be done differently. No grand marketing machine; just a website, a newsletter and the power of word‑of‑mouth, with which they steadily win over their audience.
