Behind the reverb-drenched pop/psychedelia, Crayola Eyes are a Jakarta-based six-piece band consisting of vocalist and tambourine-shaker Reno Nismara, guitarists Kendra Ahimsa and Bayu Andrianto, bassist Aditya Hadisusanto, keyboardist Anindya Anugrah, and drummer Ferry Prakarsa.
The band's full-length debut album titled '<a href="spotify:album:2iua24GBL1I9gMjjr41lMU" data-name="Gushing">Gushing</a>' — co-produced with <a href="spotify:artist:6deukQxOZId9CTKlSAUTfO" data-name="Bernardus Fritz">Bernardus Fritz</a> — was digitally released on February 23, 2023 through Jakarta's La Munai Records and then was issued on vinyl by their new label home, London's Fuzz Club Records.
As the title suggests, the album is intended to capture the band's nature in creating and delivering songs without compromise and restraint. It can also be seen as a manifestation of their stance to be in control of their own music, to create what they want to create.
Praises on 'Gushing':
"Insistent, widescreen dream-rock carving a straight highway through your third eye, passing The Horrors in the fast lane and meeting Moon Duo at the bypass."
—Shindig!
"An evocative album that asks listeners to relish every second of its lingering, engrossing psychedelia."
—The Jakarta Post
"Crayola Eyes manage to meld and steer their influences into an inebriated, mirage-like melange, creating a work that's part homage, part their own."
—Norman Records' Album of the Week
"Crayola Eyes are hitting that psychedelic sweet spot that's reserved for Spacemen 3, Loop, and early Black Angels."
—Raven Sings the Blues
