Formed in Sydney by a 16-year-old Simon Bonney, Crime & the City Solution, from its art-punk beginnings through its post-rock present, has created unique and influential soundscapes and stories; cinematic and lyrical, each album a world unto itself, an outsider’s meditation on location and time.
Constantly on the move, with time in Sydney, Melbourne, London, Berlin, and Detroit, and regularly reinventing itself, the band toured Europe, the UK and US extensively and released five studio albums, <a href="spotify:album:3BCu4vmUzi9kpw7EAxqjeq" data-name="Room of Lights">Room of Lights</a> (1986), <a href="spotify:album:1gzqy332uV4mf4skUz2coh" data-name="Shine">Shine</a> (1987), <a href="spotify:album:1fpwPcq3qlGu9sM0EvdoVU" data-name="The Bride Ship">The Bride Ship</a> (1989), <a href="spotify:album:64TMVdqoLQvuEoGnA5t8jC" data-name="Paradise Discotheque">Paradise Discotheque</a> (1990), <a href="spotify:album:6irwL8e0XPeP8rYLRY4cyw" data-name="American Twilight">American Twilight</a> (2013). In 1987 it appeared in Wim Wenders’ cinematic masterpiece Wings of Desire (1987).
In 2022, after a long hiatus the road would lead back to Berlin with Simon Bonney and Bronwyn Adams being joined by Frederic Lyenn, Donald Baldie, Georgio Valentino, Chris Hughes, and Joshua Murphy. After a successful European tour the band recorded a new album, the killer, with producer, Martin J. Fiedler. With the album’s release in October the band heads off on a European and UK tour starting in November, with dates in North America to be announced.
