Dan Gladiš is a singer/songwriter living in the Czech Republic. He performs and records with his band Bangladesh. Dan composes all the songs.
His career began in the second half of the 1990s. With material ready for a first album, he put together a studio band to record the first album Money and Lovers.
Roman Pokorný (guitar), Marcel Buntaj (drums), Martin Gašpar (bass guitar) and Ondřej Konrád (harmonica) recorded the album. With this lineup, which was later completed by guitarist Michal Hanák, Gladiš began to perform live in clubs and at festivals.
In 2000, a permanent band was put together with the following members: Dan Gladiš (vocals), Juraj Burian (guitar), Juraj Kupec (guitar), Marián Čekovský (keyboards), Martin Gašpar (bass guitar), Marcel Buntaj (drums) and Ondřej Konrád (harmonica).
Under production leadership of the Gašpar–Buntaj duo, Dan Gladiš and Bangladesh released in 2000 an album The Story of a Funny Man. Based upon the response to this album and the band’s live performances, offers to appear as an opening act came from Joe Cocker, Jethro Tull and the band Lucie.
The band performs regularly in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and in 2001 it released with the same lineup of musicians an album called Inside the Fence.
Since 2003, Dan Gladiš and Bangladesh have performed in acoustic settings, where they have been joined also by guitarist Martin Zajko. This era is captured in the live album Unplugged recorded in 2003 at Brno’s Fléda club.
