David Tavaré is a Europop singer from Spain largely defined by the international summer anthems "Summerlove (Na Na Hey)" (2006) and "Hot Summer Night (Oh La La La)" (2007), though he had other hits as well in subsequent years. Born in 1982 in Pollenca, a town on Majorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands, he grew up in the Mediterranean and cites his island upbringing as a major influence. He garnered national fame as a finalist on Operacion Triunfo, the Spanish version of Pop Idol. Tavaré made his recording debut in 2006 with the song "Summerlove (Na Na Hey)," produced by Europop hitmaker Luis Rodríguez and Amadeus Crotti. Originally performed by <a href="spotify:artist:06XDzzi31mBGSsaAABTZLb">the Underdog Project</a> (a Europop group from Germany best known for the 2000 international smash hit "Summer Jam"), "Summerlove (Na Na Hey)" topped the Spanish singles chart upon its release in summer 2006 and proved popular elsewhere in Europe as well. The following summer Tavaré scored another Rodríguez- and Crotti-produced international smash hit with "Hot Summer Night (Oh La La La)," which features <a href="spotify:artist:3gkV8EZ8pE0eCwyLeUNwzE">2 Eivissa</a> and references that group's 1997 Europop hit "Oh La La La." Released in English- as well as Spanish-language versions, "Hot Summer Night (Oh La La La)" peaked at number two on both the Spanish and French singles charts. Tavaré then released his full-length solo debut album, La Vida Viene y Va (2008), which includes his prior hits and spawned a couple minor follow-up hits with "Call Me Baby (If You Don't Know My Name)" and "Centerfold." ~ Jason Birchmeier
