DJ and producer David Zowie, a native of Kent, England, was indeed named after David Bowie. His performing surname is among the several Bowie-referencing middle names he was given (Zowie also being the original name of Bowie's son Duncan.)
Zowie's own music career, however, was not the least bit patterned after the Thin White Duke. He started making music as a teenager, but it wasn't until 2015 that he made a major impact. That's when he released "House Every Weekend," a club track that drew from the uplifting feel of certain early-'90s house music. Eventually picked up by the Virgin label, the single went on to become number one on the U.K. Official Singles Chart Top 40 in July 2015.
