Thinking with the Heart
A romantic theatricality permeates Day Felice’s chamber/art pop, a Swedish band founded by singer-songwriter and actress Linnéa Lindström (formerly known as David). Their multi-layered lyrics can remind you of Rufus Wainwright; but their love for colorful, cinematic emotional contrasts reveals a wide range of influences stretching from last century’s iconic singer-songwriters to 2000s piano rock (Coldplay, Muse).
However well-polished the band's instrumental approach might be, Lindströms “ragged” vocal style and the lyrical combination of youthful energy with adult cynicism set them apart from similar pop artists. "I really could care less about trends or whatever is cool”, Lindström states. “I'd rather try creating what I find beautiful. Beauty over everything else."
She had been training as a pianist since childhood and participating in various ensembles, but her initial releases presented her as a solo artist. Day Felice's debut single “Autumn” was featured on prominent Swedish blog Popmuzik and a had warm reception among European audiences. The Gothenburg-based quintet was later conceived in 2018 and has been playing live since 2019.
