Dede Booth marches to the beat of her own drum - figuratively and literally. As a drummer with over 30 years of experience, Dede's career is defined by her ability to see the big picture while staying true to her passions, a mindset that has shaped Dede’s unconventional journey, taking her from drummer to frontwoman with the progressive goth-rock band Sententia, and later to post-rock composer for theater. In 2017, she reinvented herself again as a progressive rock solo artist. "These aren’t separate journeys," Dede explains. "They’re intersecting paths driven by curiosity and a deep love and necessity for music."
Her latest solo release, Age of a Century, marks a new chapter in that evolution. Having self-produced four previous albums, Dede decided to collaborate with mixing and mastering engineer Tom MacLean (Twelve-Tone Studio) as co-producer, the "natural next step " in Dede's journey. The result, Dede’s most progressive work to date which explores the theme of “history repeating itself” through seven richly layered tracks. "The album reflects on individual and societal patterns - lapses - in human behavior," she says.
Bringing together her foundation of prog-rock along with the early influences she studied as a drummer, Age of a Century is concept-driven and deeply personal, showcasing not only Dede’s creative ambition but also her commitment to breaking boundaries. It’s an invitation to reflect, connect, and perhaps even break free from the cycles that hold us back.
