Defenestration were a Nu-Metal Sludge band from Kettering, UK. Between 1999-2004 the band toured the UK and Europe extensively, with acts such as Raging Speedhorn, Will Haven, Therapy?, Napalm Death and many more.
In 2001 Defenestration released their debut album 'One Inch God' and received significant coverage from the rock press, with Metal Hammer magazine calling it 'The most confident and self-assured debut since Iron Maiden'.
The album combined a mixture of influences, from Nu-Metal, Sludge Metal and Classic Metal such as Black Sabbath.
The song Stitch received airplay from the likes of the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show and TV coverage from MTV2. This attention secured them their biggest shows to date with appearances at Reading & Leeds Festivals and Wembley Arena, supporting Slayer.
The band released a split E.P 'Year of the Slug' with fellow Kettering Sludge Hardcore band Scurge in 2002 whilst continuing to tour and write new music.
2003 saw the release of the band's sophomore album 'Ray Zero' which mixed elements of punk and hardcore with the band's earlier metal influences. The album received positive reviews and radio play from the likes of John Peel.
Defenestration's final recording 'For Us It Ends When We Drown' was released in 2004 and supported with a UK tour before the band disbanded in December of the same year.
In April 2024 Defenestration reunited for a sold out reunion show with Raging Speedhorn, the band's first live performance in 20 years.
