Derau was formed in 2012 by three friends. They are Jordi Farhansyah, Rizky Hidayat Putra and Muhammad Najih who at that time were students in Universitas Indonesia. Been listening to a lot of post-rock and noise music, they formed Derau with the purpose of combining atmospheric ambient music with noise.
They quietly have released one EP "Boundaries" somewhere in 2016 as a parting gift for two members who decided to continue their studies overseas. Now with the full members have been reunited, they've been preparing new materials for their debut album.
