After serving stints in <a href="spotify:artist:18XRGxd1b484f2h06cwvJJ">Operation Ivy</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6xTk3EK5T9UzudENVvu9YB">Rancid</a>, San Francisco punk veteran Matt Freeman conceived a project of his own in 2000. Originally planned as a musical about the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge called Halfway to Hell Club, Freeman took the songs he had written with <a href="spotify:artist:7v3ZMFl1E6X4isdEaOSnk3">Tim Armstrong</a> during the off-season of touring with <a href="spotify:artist:6xTk3EK5T9UzudENVvu9YB">Rancid</a> and started Devil’s Brigade. Along with Armstrong on guitar, D.J. Bonebrake (of <a href="spotify:artist:54NqjhP2rT524Mi2GicG4K">X</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:26LAEpgOOhp1fFa0wGHsgJ">the Knitters</a>) played drums on the debut, self-titled album, which was released in the summer of 2010. ~ Jason Lymangrover, Rovi
