Diffuser, an emo rock band from Long Island, New York, was formed in 1996. The original lineup included Tomas Costanza (vocals and guitar), Anthony Cangelosi (bass), Billy Alemaghides (drums), and Lawrence Sullivan (guitar). Influenced by genres such as punk rock, indie, and alternative rock, they developed a distinctive emo rock sound characterized by emotional lyrics, melodic guitar riffs, and energetic performances.

In 2000, Diffuser signed with Hollywood Records. The following year, they released their debut studio album, Injury Loves Melody, produced by Don Gilmore. The album featured a polished yet emotive sound that resonated with a broad audience.
Injury Loves Melody was well-received by critics, who praised the band's ability to blend catchy melodies with introspective lyrics.

In 2003, Diffuser released their second album, Making the Grade, with new members Pete Schojan (bass) and Dan Leo (drums). The album showcased the band's growth, both musically and lyrically. Songs like "Get It On" and "I Wonder" highlighted their knack for crafting infectious hooks while addressing themes of personal struggle and perseverance.

In 2008, Diffuser reunited to release their third studio album, Sincerely, Wasting Away.

In May 2024, they announced they would be reuniting for a one-time performance with the original line up at a charity fundraising event called "Rock the Spectrum," an organization dedicated to autism awareness. The band is releasing a new EP in September 2024
