Dirt Tax is a young indie-rock band hailing from Donegal. Formed when Bobby Sweeney and Jack Coonan’s shared love for music brought them together, the band has quickly evolved into a dynamic force in the indie scene.
The lineup includes lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Bobby Sweeney, backing vocalist and drummer Jack Coonan, lead guitarist Paul O'Keeney, and bassist Sam Sweeney, the youngest member at only 14 years old. Influenced by the likes of Oasis, Dave Matthews Band, Status Quo, and Kasabian, Dirt Tax brings a unique blend of energy and melody to their music.
Originally known as The Jobseekers, the band played their first gig at the RCC in Letterkenny before realising their true potential. A lineup change saw Paul O'Keeney move to lead guitar and Sam Sweeney join on bass, leading to the birth of Dirt Tax. After a few adjustments, Bobby stepped up as the lead vocalist, solidifying their sound and identity.
Dirt Tax has already made waves in the music scene. Despite their youth, their performances at multiple festivals over the summer, along with appearances on Highland Radio, have garnered them a dedicated following. From the Cottage Bar in Letterkenny to festival stages, Dirt Tax's electrifying performances captivate audiences and leave them wanting more.
Looking ahead, Dirt Tax’s plans are simple yet ambitious: to continue writing songs and sharing their music with as many people as possible through live performances.
