Born out of the vibrant music scene in their university town of Durham in late 2023, halycons bring a fresh perspective to the local music landscape with exciting and high-energy performances guaranteed to make you smile. The group made its first appearance playing to packed crowds in Klute nightclub, and from there they developed their alternative rock sound in the gigs that followed.
Turning to the challenge of original music, the band drew inspiration from artists such as Jeff Buckley and The Beatles for their debut single. “Flatpack TV” and “Quicksand” were written by Tom Bercovici (guitar/vocals) with instrumental lines further developed by Clyde Barker (guitar), Panos Benopoulos (drums) and Max Goodwin (bass). With many more songs in the works, keep an eye out - halycons are just beginning…
