He moved to Tokyo at the age of 17 and began DJing at 18. He began his career at clubs and events in the mid-1980s, before moving to New York alone in 1992.
That same year, he competed in the DJ Battle For World Supremacy, coming in second place.
This historic moment, when a Japanese DJ's talent was recognized for the first time in the hip-hop scene, marked the beginning of dj honda's career as an artist.

His major label debut album "h" in 1995 and "h II" in 1997 shook up the US Billboard charts, making Honda a household name in the American hip-hop scene as a Japanese DJ.
After the worldwide release of "h IV" in 2009, he returned to Japan and began producing and working domestically.
He has produced music for some of Japan's leading artists, transcending the boundaries of hip-hop and across genres.
In 2025, he will release his first full albums under his own name in 16 years, "hV" and "hV -Japan Edition-."
Even now, dj honda's rapid progress continues to evolve.
