Based in Hong Kong, 18-year-old producer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter Ryan Nah makes songs under the project name Drotoch - all in which embodies multiple music genres including Dream-Pop, Shoegaze, Avant-Garde, Indie-Pop, Neo-Psychedelia, and Noise-Pop.
Using a few electric guitars, a MIDI keyboard, and microphone, he also produces and writes his music in a DIY and experimental fashion, intending to often sound lo-fi and obscurified.
Drotoch’s first album ‘through the broken fields’, which took inspirations ranging from Slacker-Rock to Bedroom-Pop, came out on April 20th 2022. Whilst a year later in 2023, he released his Shoegaze-influenced EP ‘lifas viator’ on April 14th, which also includes singles ‘Campbell’ and ‘Paperweight’.
His newest album ‘Crop’ released on January 14th 2024, whereas its songs form a sound fusion of shoegaze, new-wave, and indie folk. As of 2024, his six songs have been selected by several editorial playlists, including +852 Rising & Haze
