Drumcorps is Aaron Spectre, an American musician whose work tries to make sense of our present time. Raised in rural Massachusetts in a family of scientists, he was using computers from an early age, and playing drums in area hardcore bands.
After moving to New York City, he fully absorbed electronic music, learning vinyl djing and production, & developing a deep appreciation for the culture.
Eventually he moved to Berlin and started playing shows all over Europe, coming up from squats to clubs to festivals, building a following in the process. He released a host of records to critical acclaim, and has since toured the world several times over.
Drumcorps is the merging of Aaron's roots in hardcore punk with concise songwriting and a broad sound palette. The debut album Grist received an award of distinction at Austria's Prix Ars Electronica for its merging of seemingly disparate genres, which also come from the same roots. He's currently based in Amsterdam.
