“Pop-rock should just be called pop nowadays because it’s all pop and no rock. I mean come on, where are the guitars anymore? We need to stop lying to ourselves; its pretty much all mid at best.”
Liverpool-raised guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer Dylan Ivy weighs in on the state of rock music in the year 2025. And he believes his new solo project might be the answer rock fans have been waiting for.
Whilst this is his first solo venture, he featured on Busted’s recent album: Greatest Hits 2.0, on which he played guitars and was part of the engineering team behind the production. This album included collaborations with The Jonas Brothers, Hanson, All Time Low, Deaf Havana, amongst many other staple artists in the pop-rock realm.
That album reached number one in the official UK charts.
Dylan Ivy released his debut single “The Light Of The Day” and B-Side “Go!” in September 2025. The single is the first track to be released of his upcoming full-length Album, ‘Hedonism’ which will appear in early 2026. With a broad range of influence including metal, indie rock, electronic, hip hop and psychedelic, the self propelled direction of the music speaks for itself.
“This project is purely about the music. Nothing else. No politics. No vanity. No material; It’s about the music. It’s never been about being cool or making money. I just love making music and everything I stand for is in there somewhere."
