Enter formed in Milan, Italy, in 1988 as a progressive rock band inspired by history, myth, and musical exploration. Founded by Gabriele Bulfon (keyboards) and Marco Ferranti (drums), with Franco Avalli (bass), and Vittorio Ballerio (vocals), the band composed nearly a dozen pieces themed around lost civilizations and ancient legends—such as Atlantis, Lemuria and Gondwana—blending synth-driven prog rock with evocative choral and lyrical elements. A demo tape was recorded in 1991, followed by several live performances in Milan, but the band disbanded before releasing a full album.
More than 30 years later, in 2022, Enter reunited to craft a brand new concept album: “Awakening the Past”. With the spirit of the original vision intact, the pianist expanded the sonic palette with jazz fusion, orchestral arrangements, and modern production techniques such as a Virtual Orchestra, composing five expansive tracks (each 7–9 minutes long), with great contributions by the drummer and the other elements of the band, through three years of intense work.
The album brings together the complete cast of contributors—original band members and this lineup of international guest artists:
