The musical tapestry that Eric Wainaina has worked on in the 25 years he has been in the music industry, is one that has refused to fade. With every passing release, his vocals and songwriting prowess take us to a new kind of heaven. From the start, Eric has been known to invoke introspective reflections through his lyrics, forcing us all to examine ourselves and the contribution we make towards a better future.
It began with the release of 'Daima Kenya' in 1997. Still a student at Berklee College of Music, Eric released his first single which was almost immediately christened as Kenya’s second official National Anthem. The song danced along the airwaves of every radio station at the time and was played at various concerts that he was invited to play at. Soon after this, he released his first album titled Sawa Sawa in 2001. It remains to this day one of the highest selling solo albums in Kenya. More studio albums followed after this; Twende Twende! (2006), Love + Protest (2011), and Dreams in Stereo (2018).
In 2010, Eric wrote and produced the music for 'Tinga Tinga Tales,' a British-Kenyan children’s TV series comprised of 52 episodes based on African folk tales. Commissioned by the BBC for its CBeebies channel, and Disney Channel for its Disney Junior block.
In April 2019, Eric released the Lusala (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) album for Mugambi Nthiga’s directorial debut 'Lusala' alongside Rushab Nandha & Mbogua Mbugua Mbugua.
