K-pop duo EXO-SC is the second official sub-unit of the South Korean boy band <a href="spotify:artist:3cjEqqelV9zb4BYE3qDQ4O">EXO</a>. Following their first official offshoot, <a href="spotify:artist:3Lz3vEN23Fw0hIelrYEzUD">EXO-CBX</a>, EXO-SC made their debut in 2019. Comprising founding <a href="spotify:artist:3cjEqqelV9zb4BYE3qDQ4O">EXO</a> members Sehun and Chanyeol, the pair -- also known as "Exo-Se-Chan" -- issued its first EP, What a Life, in summer 2019 on parent label <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22S.M.+Entertainment%22">S.M. Entertainment</a>. Topping the Korean Gaon chart and landing in the Top 10 of the U.S. Heatseekers and World Albums charts, the six-song set remained close to <a href="spotify:artist:3cjEqqelV9zb4BYE3qDQ4O">EXO</a>'s typical sound, incorporating elements of R&B, hip-hop, and electronic pop. The EP was produced with Korean hip-hop artist <a href="spotify:artist:0tkHE1pQ5ZCgQb8WZ0ba79">Gaeko</a> and included the singles "Just Us 2" and "Closer to You."
The following year, the pair returned with their first official album 1 Billion Views. Featuring guest appearances by Penomeco, <a href="spotify:artist:6zn0ihyAApAYV51zpXxdEp">10cm</a>, and returning producer <a href="spotify:artist:0tkHE1pQ5ZCgQb8WZ0ba79">Gaeko</a>, the LP also included solo tracks from Sehun ("On Me") and Chanyeol ("Nothin'"). ~ Neil Z.
