Perhaps the prototype one-hit wonder, Jackson, Mississippi vocalist Fern Kinney was in <a href="spotify:artist:6ncg3TPqFL3bEaMLjYeK1D">the Poppies</a> along with <a href="spotify:artist:3KQOgtRIeQVHdYFcNHKavs">Dorothy Moore</a> before she signed with Atlantic. Kinney moved to Malaco in the late '70s, and her cover of <a href="spotify:artist:03PCdNvkF81s7xHmtkNcoz">King Floyd</a>'s "Groove Me" made it into the R&B Top 30, though neither of the LPs Groove Me or Fern sustained her initial momentum.
