Fold are a Leeds-based music collective with four core members and many collaborators. By incorporating diverse voices—including MCs, poets, historical speakers, and singers—they amplify humanitarian perspectives and critical reflections on today’s world. Their sound spans hip-hop, jazz-funk, Brazilian, psychedelic rock, and downtempo.
With a strong underground following and rebellious friends in high places, Fold’s tunes are played on BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio One, Amazing Radio, and stations worldwide. They’ve performed across the UK, including a live session for Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music and shows with Public Service Broadcasting and Ibibio Sound Machine. Their music has been featured in The Times, The Guardian, NME, and more.
Fold directly support urgent causes whenever possible. They’ve played benefit gigs for refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers, supplied an acclaimed remix of hip-hop duo Ceiling Demons for the UK CALM charity, and recently donated tracks to compilations raising funds for Gazans amid ongoing devastation.
After severe floods in Leeds wrecked key rehearsal spaces and studios, Fold played a Brudenell Social Club gig, helping raise enough to save all affected businesses. Most recently, they received a grant from the Mayor of West Yorkshire to run a music production workshop for young people facing barriers.
