The Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces (Forsvarets stabsmusikkorps) is the largest professional wind band in Norway and the Norwegian Armed Forces. It was established in 1818, and celebrates their 200th anniversary in 2018. Since its inception, The Staff Band has been the Armed Forces' main representative orchestra, with regular assignments for the Royal Family, the Parliament, the Government and the Armed Forces. Beside official missions at home and abroad, The Staff Band also has extensive concert activities in the regions surrounding Oslo. Their repertoire ranges from classical wind music to contemporary popular music. The band commissions and performs works written by both established and upcoming composers and presents a historic array of music for military- wind bands. Thus, The Staff Band contributes to the development and preservation of wind repertoire, nationally and internationally
