Friedrich Liechtenstein is a phenomenon. The 65-year-old German singer and entertainer earned his degree in drama and began his career as a puppeteer, but it would be in music that he found himself, in the early 2000s. With his funnily sardonic pop songs, parodic film clips (unsparing even of himself) and viral videos of advertising songs, he became a celebrity all across Germany, although of course one who treats other celebrities sarcastically as well. Together with various artists, he balances out jazzy, easy listening-type pop with lots of humour, engaging vocals and magnetic performances.
