The name FRYA comes from reading a lot of books about Norse Mythology as a child. The Goddess Freya stood out as she loved music, fought for what she loved, was called in on matters of love and when she cried her tears turned to gold. When choosing a name she needed one that represented the woman she had become which is heard through her music tackling love, bold expressions of sexuality, resilience and free expression.

Her career was launched after posting a cover of an Adele song on Instagram when the Executive Producer for the SABC 1 show titled Side Dish reached out and asked her to write and record the title track for the show. This was followed by the release of her debut EP ‘Dots’.
