Fungi makes a comeback with an ambitious project, a double album; two large murals of 25 minutes each, divided into panels. It fits into the current hybrid jazz heard in the United States from West Coast artists like Carlos Nino, Sam Gendel, Jeff Parker, or the Onyx Collective on the East Coast. Fungi's music transcends genres and explores sounds, almost plastically at times. One cannot help but think of New Blue Sun, Andre 3000's latest album, when listening to certain passages of this double album. For this project, Janoya (the group's leader) has chosen to collaborate with the video artist duo Konpyuta, who use a modular synthesizer for images in order to create a unique experience.
