NCY Milky Band is a French quartet led by BMM Records co-founder Louis Treffel on keys and synths, with Quentin Thomas on sax and flute, and Conservatory of Paris graduates Antoine Léonardon on bass and Paul Lefèvre on drums. Their first jam sessions took place at the BMM Land studio in Nancy, and became a video series titled Our Gurus, in which they revisited their common influences such as George Clinton, Jean-Claude Vannier, Boards of Canada, and in the second volume, Aphex Twin, Pierre Henry and King Crimson.
Their debut album Burn’IN came out in 2021, oscillating between funky mood enhancers and nostalgic slow jams, topped by Louis’ undeniable need for experimentation. As the album gained recognition within the French jazz scene, the band started evolving into a fully independent act that offers unique hybrids between groove, jazz, funk, hip-hop and electronica.
Composed while touring, their second album titled 100 Ans explores new horizons in a melting pot of references from French soundtrack and 70’s psychedelia to hip-hop and acid house. Working with collaborators such as Quelle Chris and FLUPKE helped them expand their field of action.
Whether as a quartet or with their recent Franco-Ghanaian hip-hop project Agoro, the band continues to tour stages and festivals such as Nancy Jazz Pulsations, Cabaret Vert, La Maroquinerie, Le Trabendo, FGO Barbara and La Boule Noire, where their captivating, groovy and innovative live set resonates.
