Benjamin Steiger founded the music project Fuzzybrains during the first Corona lockdown. It is therefore hardly surprising that especially on the first album depressing topics such as anxiety, overwork or separation are often discussed. But the result doesn't sound so depressing, as the groove is always the focus of the tracks. The delicate fragility of Fuzzybrains’ sound is always built around a supporting framework of beat and bass. The hypnotic effect is physical when rhythm and sonic expanse are combined. Fuzzybrains' debut album The Less I Know, which Steiger recorded as a duo together with musician Amalia Hauser, was released at the end of 2022 on Seayou Records.
The Less I Know is the sound of intimate conversations on several levels. The songs are created in the back and forth between Amalia and Benjamin, but the songs themselves are often dialogues between two fictional protagonists. Their conversations often deal with painful topics such as anxiety, overload or separation. The recordings sound intimate because they were produced in close contexts, written on long walks, recorded on long nights in Benjamin’s home studio, not lo-fi but deliberately imperfect.
