Gab Academy PH is a Dumaguete-based independent act led by singer-songwriter Gabrielle Academia, together with a passionate team of musicians who help bring heartfelt music to life. The project started as a quiet, personal journey — writing songs as a way to heal and process emotions — and slowly grew into a collective with one shared intention: to speak through sound.
As a group, we proudly promote Bisaya music. Our released songs are in Binisaya, reflecting the language of home, of real conversations, and of emotions that often don’t translate well into other tongues. We believe Bisaya deserves a louder space in the local scene — and we’re humbled to contribute to that in our own small way.
Our sound blends Bisaya and Filipino indie-pop, with influence from artists like Ben&Ben, Munimuni, Unique, IV of Spades, Missing Filemon, and Willfreedo. While our focus is on local language songs, we also write and produce unreleased tracks in Tagalog and English, which we hope to share soon. But no matter the language, our goal remains the same: to tell honest stories that others can feel and find themselves in.
Our latest songs, “Di Na” and “Mayta,” are about one-sided love, longing, and choosing hope despite heartbreak. They’re quiet but loud, simple yet bombarding, sincere but feigned— and we hope they reach those who need them most.
And if the music finds the right listener — then that’s more than enough for us.
