Born out of the Portland DIY scene, Gated Community first hit the stage at a Friends of Noise open mic in early 2022. Founding members Hanuri Kim (lead guitar, vocals) and True Ware (lead vocals) were still in high school when they took their love of music from the crowd to the stage.
It wasn’t until relocating to Bellingham, WA in 2023 that the band started playing with Braeden Manalo on drums, and knew it was a perfect fit.
Proudly fem-fronted and queer-led, Gated Community is carving out space for an underrepresented crowd, embracing femininity, queerness, and joy without compromise.
