Georg Christoph Biller was a German conductor, vocalist, educator, and composer. From 1965 to 1974, he received his musical training as a member of the legendary <a href="spotify:artist:76HODsD07qiiAFoxCaMVIz">Thomanerchor</a> at St. Thomas Church, Leipzig, taking courses with <a href="spotify:artist:3UvGtrFjZQLFRwn9bVEZ86">Erhard Mauersberger</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:1C17hjKww5t8f2znhlPBBe">Hans-Joachim Rotzsch</a>. From 1976 to 1981, Biller attended the Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig, where he studied conducting with Rolf Reuter and <a href="spotify:artist:37Lr1lIJy824MQIENRUnZn">Kurt Masur</a>. In 1991, he taught choral conducting at the University of Music in Detmold, until he was named the 16th Thomaskantor since <a href="spotify:artist:5aIqB5nVVvmFsvSdExz408">Bach</a>'s time, holding that position from 1992 to 2015. In 1994, he became a professor of choral conducting at the Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy University, and in 1996, he was admitted to the Academy of Arts of Saxony. Biller has recorded many of <a href="spotify:artist:5aIqB5nVVvmFsvSdExz408">Bach</a>'s cantatas and other choral repertoire for <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Philips%22">Philips</a> and <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Rondeau%22">Rondeau</a>. Georg Christoph Biller died January 27, 2022 after a long illness; he was 66 years old.
