Perhaps best known for his soundtracks to Zoo Folle and The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue, composer and multi-instrumentalist Giuliano Sorgini (b. 1942) has written music in a wide range of styles, composing scores for film, television, theatre and dance shows, as well as orchestral pieces. In his outstanding and often pioneering body of work, Sorgini has explored genres such as classical, jazz, electronica, disco, beat, progressive rock, funk and psychedelia. With thousands of tracks for television (including documentaries, cultural and informational programmes, entertainment and other non-scripted TV genres), he is one of Italy’s major library music composers. Long overshadowed by his more famous colleagues, in recent years Sorgini has been gaining the recognition he deserves thanks to the work of Italian labels like Four Flies, which keep digging into his vast and still largely unexplored archives, rescuing beautiful but long-forgotten pieces from obscurity.
