At an early age Rotterdam born producer Glimlip never imagined himself becoming a beatmaker. Starting off playing the drums and guitar, music was nothing more than a playful way of spending his time. A few years further down the road it would be impossible though to speak about him without thinking of his soulful/jazz influenced beats inspired by the likes of J Dilla, Flying Lotus, Madlib and Kiefer.
In 2021, Glimlip released his debut album Undertones in collaboration with Yasper. The 20-track project introduced his signature style with jazzy harmonies, catchy riffs, and dusty hip-hop drums. He followed it up with Twelve Chapters, a collaborative album with Søren Søstrom and Soul Food Horns that blends Jazz, Electronica, and Instrumental Hip-Hop by fusing live and digital production.
Glimlip has since brought his sound to the stage with a seven-piece band, performing live at venues like the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam and Amsterdam’s BIMHUIS.
In 2025, Glimlip released his third and most versatile album, Shades of Purple. Featuring classically trained musicians and established producers, this 15-track record explores a rich palette of Jazz, Soul, Funk, and Electronica. It flows between relaxed beats and danceable house rhythms, offering something for both casual listeners and audiophiles, and reinforcing Glimlip’s reputation for musical depth.
