Groovebox Story

Groovebox Story, synthpop band from Jakarta combines vintage synth sounds with modern production in the vein of Fariz RM played in the style of The Weeknd or Porter Robinson.
“Growing up in the 80’s, synthpop and electronic music were some of the many references I had. They took me to the level where I am now” says Iman Hudaya who is popularly known as Aroel (synths) and the founding father of the band. Aroel who professionally writes music scores and jingles, was also a member of a local band PlanetBumi and Stereomantic.
Along came Ined (Deni Priyanto, bass) who was a member of a local band Gin&Tonic to start a tribute band playing mostly 80’s popular bands such as Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Depeche Mode, A-ha and the list goes on.
Fey (Fery Rahman, synths) sets the band to a solid path by joining the dance outfit later. Fey started his journey in music from learning theme songs 90s tv programs on a piano.
An unexpected rendezvous with Zidni Hakim (vocal) made him the singer for Groovebox Story. Zidni makes his career as an actor in both films and tv commercials. He was also the singer for the band Tiket.
Fey left the band after they released single “Sorry” on July 2021.
Wizra has signed as an official member after several times helping to play drums for some of our shows. Wizra works as a drum teacher and also as a session player for several Jakarta musicians. She also member of band Zigi-Zaga and Are You Alone.
