Chris Coole is a Canadian folk musician who has toured and performed with the likes of The Foggy Hogtown Boys, Erynn Marshall, Ivan Rosenberg, David Francey, and currently, The Lonesome Ace Stringband. He is known for his interpretation of Southern old-time music, as well as his original songs and instrumentals played on clawhammer banjo and guitar. Through many workshops, as well as an instructional DVD, he has taught a league of people how to play clawhammer banjo. As a collaborator or sideman, he has played on over 200 recordings. Chris has been a student of traditional music forms for 30 years, and the fact that his songs are often described as sounding "old", or "timeless" is a reflection of that. His songs have been covered by many top artists in the bluegrass and folk such artists as Eli West, The Grasscals, Jenny Whiteley, The Sweet Lowdown, Megan Lynch, Bill Evans, and Darren Nicholson.

"Renowned for his clawhammer banjo picking, Coole now establishes himself as a gripping songwriter." - Roddy Campbell, Penguin Eggs Magazine
