Originating out of San Francisco's East Bay, Happy Diving are a noisy, fuzz-laden, indie rock outfit who formed in 2013. Pulling influences from '90s indie/alt-rock stalwarts like Dinosaur Jr. and Weezer, they quickly hit the studio, emerging in early 2014 with their sludgy, yet tuneful, self-titled debut EP. Wasting no time, they inked a deal with Father/Daughter Records and reconvened with producer Jack Shirley (Joyce Manor, Deafheaven) at his Atomic Garden studio to record a full-length. Captured in just two days and released in November of that year, Big World expanded on Happy Diving's powerful, noisy blasts, drawing favorable comparisons to like-minded East Coast rockers Ovlov. The So Blunted 7" arrived the following year, after which they signed on with San Diego indie Topshelf Records, which released their sophomore LP, Electric Soul Unity, in 2016. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
