As well as fronting the chamber pop group A Classic Education and co-hosting a daily radio show on Bologna, Italy's Citta del Capo, Jonathan Clancy also makes dreamy lo-fi on his own, and initially by himself, under the guise of His Clancyness. After covering blog fan favorites Nite Jewel and Wavves, Clancy started generating an online buzz. His debut, Hissometer Cassette, was recorded over the course of three years and released in a limited run on Secret Furry Hole Records in 2009. A series of singles followed, with Clancy splitting time between His Clancyness and A Classic Education while playing live shows with each. His live band was usually made up of his friends Giulia Mazza on keyboards, Emanuela Drei on bass and vocals, and Jacopo Borazzo on drums. His Clancyness was signed by FatCat in March of 2013 and soon released the Charade EP, which was then followed by an album, Vicious, in October. Recorded in Detroit with producer Chris Koltay, the album was Clancy's cleanest-sounding to date and featured other musicians (Borazzo and bassist Paul Pieretto) for the first time. ~ Jason Lymangrover, Rovi
