Located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles' Arts District stands Darkart Mastering, an engineering facility owned and operated by Mike Bell, a.k.a. Hive. Before mastering projects for EDM giants such as Diplo, Skrillex, Major Lazer, DJ Snake and Justice, Hive became known as one of the world’s leading DJs during the 1990s and 2000s. Touring across the globe many times over and reaching acclaim through multiple markets, Hive redefined what it meant to make electronic music and present it live. Landing sync partnerships with worlds as divergent and separated as The Matrix soundtrack and Monday Night Football, he built a reputation for genre-bending sonic aesthetics and dance floor anthems that established a palpable connection to a truly global audience.

2018 finds the prolific engineer and artist going back to his origins as Hive, presenting digital releases of his debut and sophomore albums Working With Sound (1997) and Devious Methods (1998). Issued on streaming platforms through his revived Mandala Recordings imprint via Alpha Pup Records, Working With Sound and Devious Methods are iconic releases that are still spoken of highly in the upper echelon of music culture. With an abundance of samples and the rhythms pulsing, Working With Sound and Devious Methods are timeless albums that will find a much-needed home across digital platforms.
