The bouncy pop group Hope 7 features singer Kristi McClave, guitarist Dave Noble, bassist Chevy Martinez, and drummer Ricky Rodriguez. A singer since age six, McClave began auditioning for roles in musicals in her early teens; producer Rodney Jerkins was at one of those auditions and decided she would be the featured vocalist for his new girl group, the 3Gs. However, finding the right mix of other singers proved difficult, and the 3Gs disbanded. McClave continued to work with some of the other producers involved in the 3Gs; together, they decided to move in a more rock-oriented direction. McClave contributed a track to the Cheetah Girls soundtrack and another song to the Legally Blonde 2 soundtrack, which was credited to Hope 7 even though the band's lineup was still being finalized. By early 2004, Noble, Martinez, and Rodriguez had joined the band, and Hope 7 began playing and recording in earnest. A tour with the ATV pro volleyball tournament and the single "I Want Everything," which also appeared on the Sleepover soundtrack, were two of the band's highlights that year. Another single, Breakthrough, arrived later in 2004. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
