I Travel Light is a dutch pianist and composer born in the south of the Netherlands. He studied at the Maastricht Conservatory between 1997 and 2002. Although his compositions can get gloomy and moody from time to time, his sound always seems to tend towards the uplifting and optimistic side.
Oftentimes, the pianist’s craftmanship is showcased as he graciously walks the line between dark and joyous and to create cinematic soundtracks to places he has visited in the past.
This musical duality results in wondrous lush arrangements that never fail to captivate the listener.
Montania
Being the opener for I Travel Light’s newest album, Montania starts off in true I Travel Light fashion. A few light and bouncy notes make for the intro as subtle bird sounds make their way to the listener’s ear. This ambience sets the mood perfectly, as the rest of the piece is a beautiful exploration of the capabilities of musical story telling.
For any neo-classical fan: tune in, tune out all distractions and drift off into the world of Montania.
