Back in 98, when dinosaurs roamed the earth (okay, not really), Mauricio Castillo Guerra was just a little kiddo starting his musical journey. At the tender age of 7, his parents were like, "Hey, let's toss this kid into piano lessons!" So, off he went, tinkling the ivories with various piano professors in town.
But hold up, things got even more interesting when he hit 13. Suddenly, he was all like, "Piano's cool and all, but have you seen this thing called an electric guitar? And drums? They look rad!" So, guess what? He taught himself how to rock out on those bad boys, using nothing but his piano know-how and some trusty ol' YouTube tutorials.
Fast forward to 2017, after a day of battling evil math problems and surviving the school jungle, Mauricio found himself jamming on his vintage 1985 Fender Stratocaster. As he strummed away randomly, an epiphany struck! "Ice Cream Boy," he exclaimed out of nowhere. Why? Because it sounded sweet and creamy, just like the chorus of the song he was cooking up in his noggin.
And thus, "Ice Cream Boy" was born, not just as Mauricio's artistic moniker, but also as the title of his jammin' first EP, "Chocolate, Vanilla & Tequila." This dude's got tunes for days, with 1 EP, 4 singles, and 2 albums all cooked up in his very own studio.
As Mau himself puts it, "Music is my jam, man! It's like the ultimate superhero that swoops in and saves the day when life gets tough. So yeah, let's give props to art, because it's seriously our lifesaver!"
