Incubus Succubus, from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, were a rock band with strong English folk and gothic punk influences. Their lyrics revolved around the twin themes of vampirism and the pagan faith of Wicca. The vampiric strand accounted for much of their gothic feel. It was Wicca, however, that dominated their material, with its continuation of the Medieval witchcraft tradition of pre-Christian hunting gods and moon goddesses. The band’s Wiccan beliefs attracted a strong following in the UK’s pagan subculture, though this failed to translate into mainstream success. The band (originally known as Children Of The Moon) had a fluctuating line-up, but the core remained Tony McCormick (ex-Screaming Dead; guitars) and Candia (vocals).
