Invalids started in 2008 as the solo project of <a href="spotify:artist:2FMoEZMS8QfofZpuD5SlZE" data-name="Pete Davis">Pete Davis</a>, recording both guitars and vocals, programming drums, and enlisting the help of Nick Shaw of <a href="spotify:artist:2mI89QIY20j4ly27G6qA45" data-name="Black Crown Initiate">Black Crown Initiate</a> to record bass. After the release of <a href="spotify:album:6nnlfQ7oRDAcfRyS2h6CRC" data-name="Eunoia">Eunoia</a> (2012), <a href="spotify:album:7lKSC0BbgtNyzHCBeOQGLn" data-name="Top Secret Area EP">Top Secret Area EP</a> (2013), <a href="spotify:album:05s4vtVjsXL0BaD8zTeaYQ" data-name="Two-hundred-second EP">Two-hundred-second EP</a> (2013), and <a href="spotify:album:69QLTvEKytlcT14SgUBVD0" data-name="Strengths">Strengths</a> (2014), the project produced a split with chiptune artist <a href="spotify:artist:5QnTA7OKVtGxM3YSDE2iJb" data-name="an0va">an0va</a> entitled <a href="spotify:album:3ZQp9NaiSlgUY2iTo2JspV" data-name="Permutation EP">Permutation EP</a> (2015) featuring new songs and cross-covers between each genre. Finally, in March of 2015, Pete met musicians to form a live band and begin performing and touring. Joe Scala of <a href="spotify:artist:4hMRSjr6V19FIEftqxZsDM" data-name="In Angles">In Angles</a> joined on drums, Raymond Bonanno of <a href="spotify:artist:5yCE6cztQ3vNsbh4VyX6h1" data-name="Use Big Words">Use Big Words</a> on bass, and Blair Benzel of <a href="spotify:artist:4RxUGW2HRMIm9qI1GJqMgK" data-name="Good Game">Good Game</a> on guitar.
