Ish Marquez says, “Yeah…well…whaddaya want me to say? Whaddaya want to know? Probably just like you, I started the music journey when I was a small kid. I saw my Pops beat and tired after coming home from work. But he didn’t let that get in the way of his Fridays! Friday evenings after busting his rump for us at his tough job, he’d buy a new record, go home and he’d let me throw it on the record player, always making sure I was careful doing it. I noticed how relaxed he got on his sofa with a cold beverage in his hand and drift off into that musical landscape. When he noticed that I could mimick the songs word for word he’d get a kick out of that and say something nice. That got me going. The sacred connection to the world of music, that little but rockin’ Made in the UK Admiral record player and my dad’s love had me sold. I had to figure out how to be as righteous as Latin greats that had me jumpin’, Beach Boys, Ray Charles, Celia Cruz and others and so I figured it out bit by bit. And you know that musical journey has yet to reach its end and there’s still a quite a ways to go. Have a wonderful day and may you always always keep on rocking”
