In 2017, an impulsive click on YouTube unveiled the world of Houston singer songwriter Ivy Rose to Nick Littlemore. With an array of covers of Joan Jett, Mazy Star, Lana Del Ray and the like, Ivy Rose hit each cover with a newfound, chilling heartache. Littlemore was “struck by her melancholy and the deep loneliness in her eyes.” The feeling on melancholy is not hard to hear in the powerful and mesmerising voice of Ivy Rose either. Citing the influence of Chelsea Wolfe, Radiohead, Tom Waits, and Little Dragon, she demonstrates a unique darkness.

Nick took a chance flight to Houston to meet Ivy Rose, along with his wife Gigi Rose Gray who was equally entranced. Nick’s plan was to spend time writing music for Ivy Rose, taking the girl who sung beautiful covers towards being an artist with her own voice. Within a week they had recorded an hour of original music. A year passed, and Ivy joined Nick and Peter Mayes in LA where together they recorded her debut body of work. Nick and Peter realised that through her recent life challenges Ivy had developed into the artist they’d envisaged; composing complex and powerfully challenging works of art. “There’s something universal about the way Ivy sings, the way she connects. She is a story in herself” Nick illuminates. What can we expect from Ivy Rose? She states, “I want people to feel inspired, and motivated. And to feel the real pain and feelings that are behind my voice.” Ivy Rose is the second signing to PNAU's label Lab78.
