Jamie Lawson - 10th Anniversary Edition
Well that 10 years went pretty quick.
When the Jamie Lawson album was originally released in October of 2015 I was opening for One Direction. That I was not expecting. I had already signed to Ed Sheeran’s record label, something else I hadn’t expected, and on it’s first week of release it went to No.1. Yep, you guessed it, I wasn’t expecting that either. Here are a few other things I didn’t expect:
Playing on The Ellen Show, Jimmy Fallen, The Late Late Show, Xmas Top Of The Pops, being in an episode of Neighbours, being followed on Twitter by David Hasselhoff of all people, and, amazingly, Don Mclean. He was the first person I ever saw live in concert at Plymouth Pavillions. Winning an Ivor Novello award, playing Wembley Stadium four times. That sort of thing is other worldly, far beyond the wildest of dreams.
In the 10 years since I’ve made three more albums and 2 EP’s, got married, had a boy, he’s 5 now, lived through a pandemic (as did you) and started my own record label.
Revisiting the Jamie Lawson album I guess I’m not quite the same person I was. Being a husband and a dad and some songs hit differently. I made the decision to revisit it mainly because I thought, if I wait till 20 years have passed no one will remember who I was. Genuinely. That’s the main reason, but it also meant I could play with the songs a little, folk them, add strings, maybe a duet or two, and that’s exactly what I’ve done. Enjoy. Jx
