Spiraling through the space between regret and celebration, Jessica Genius is a study in layers. Despair is wrapped in hope, and strangeness in familiarity, forming dark yet lustrous songs bathed in a shimmering Psychedelia. The soundscapes of Indie Rock and Pop are used like a Foley artist tasked with deciphering the mashed up fantasies of a 100 disc changer. Thoughtful, luxuriant production is treated like a member of the band, elevating Jessica's pulsing melodies to a higher state of themselves while avoiding the overstated polish that too often defines Alt-Pop.
