Returning to MESH after the acclaimed Escape From Luna EP last year, Jinjé presents a new experience. Five vibrant yet suspenseful tracks to lose yourself in. Zenji is out *date* on all digital streaming platforms.
No stranger to playing with the contours of genre - both as a solo artist and as a founding member of the experimental band Vessels - Lee Malcolm’s productions sit on the line between genuine experimentation and the club floor, always with a playful touch, but grounded by a sincere appreciation for dance music in all its forms. This new release on MESH is no different, drawing references from far and wide into five masterfully produced tracks.
‘Crazy Horse’ sets the scene with static power chords that flourish in texture, swirling into a three minute trance build up before dropping.
On ‘Into The Breach’, fragments of broken electro are guided by ethereal glitching voices.
‘Kora’ leans into the maximal with a unique cut of computer malfunction machine funk.
Infinite echoes drift through space time on ‘Luminal Motion’, an upbeat hit of otherplanetery electro.
Rounding things off, the title track is a genreless expedition through shuffling drums and expansive sound design that sits somewhere between sino grime and breaks.
Tapping into a number of different realms, Zenji is a continuation of themes explored through Jinjé’s longstanding obsession with sound, and a must have for anyone looking towards the weirder corners of dance music.
