Jodie Prenger joined Connie Fisher and Lee Mead on the list of overnight West End stars after becoming the third contestant to win a televised Andrew Lloyd Webber talent show. Born in Blackpool, Lancashire in 1979, Prenger began her career on the Northern cabaret circuit, before performing in various shows at her hometown's Opera House, theme park Alton Towers, and the Disney Cruise Line in Florida. In 2006, she won the second series of weight-loss challenge show The Biggest Loser, but it was two years later where she achieved her biggest success. After reaching the live stages of I'll Do Anything, the BBC search to find a new Nancy for a West End revival of Lionel Bart musical Oliver, she beat Jessie Buckley and Samantha Barks in the final, despite producer Cameron Mackintosh's reservations that she was too large for the role. She earned rave reviews for her two-year stint in the show at Drury Lane's Theatre Royal, where she also found time to present the National Lottery, publish her autobiography, and provide cover for various DJs on Radio 2, before being replaced by Wicked actress Kerry Ellis in 2010. In the same year she duetted with judge John Barrowman on "So Close," a track from his 2010 self-titled album, recorded vocals for a new version of Glenn Miller's "In the Mood," which appeared on his Top Five compilation, The Very Best Of, and landed the part of The Lady of the Lake in Eric Idle 's Spamalot. In 2011, she released her first solo single, "Please Don't Let Me Fall in Love," the theme tune to the sitcom Candy Cabs she also starred in. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi
